While at Supercharged Food we have a healthy work/life balance there are some things in life we want to be working 24/7. Our fridge is one. Our gut is another.
A loved gut works overtime for you
An effective, or what we like to call a ‘loved’, gut environment will work for you 24 hours a day. And love every minute of it! On the other hand, an ineffective gut, one that carries too much undisposed waste and plaque, or is populated with too many toxins and bad bacteria, can be sluggish and not at all good at its job.
It’s really up to us to get our guts in working order. We do this by making informed decisions in the food and liquids we consume, the supplements we take and the lifestyle choices we make. There’s no doubt, though, that a loved gut is one of the top ways to a healthy body, mind and life.
Being mindful before mealtimes is something your gut will love. Some supplements are best taken on an empty stomach, mostly because there’s less ‘other stuff’ to compete with. Our Love Your Gut powder or capsules can be taken before, during (add the powder to supercharge your cooking - it’s tasteless and invisible) and after meals. We suggest the powder and Synbiotic are taken 30 to 5 minutes before meals for best effect.
During mealtimes a loved gut will be best placed to process and digest your food and liquids. It’s a big job to take on, all that food landing in our bellies, all at once. (This is another reason why chewing your food well and taking our time to eat are good gut health practices).
A good idea to give your gut a little less work every so often is to introduce easier to digest meals. Meals that are broken down somewhat, like smoothies and soups enter your tummy ‘pre-digested’ (sounds yuck but the idea is sound). There’s much less for your digestive system to do. Try to introduce these types of meals into your mealtime repertoire.

At other times, as we digest food, a healthy gut will slowly and effectively send much needed nutrition throughout your body. An effective gut environment and gut lining means more nutrients and hydration are absorbed into your body through to where they are needed..
Even at rest, a cared for (loved) gut is working overtime at some amazing side hustles. It’s under less strain and pressure so can pursue other goals like feeding the gut/brain connection. This nutritional body system or network is now well-established and gaining more prominence with very new study. A healthy gut means a healthy, active brain environment.
On the other hand, unhealthy food and diet practices will deliver a sluggish gut performance. Over time, this can lead to direct gut health conditions like bloating, gas, IBD, IBS, SIBO, weight gain, fatigue, constipation, leaky gut and diarrhea.
Additionally, a poor gut environment has an indirect but telling effect on many, if not most, health conditions. Even those not directly linked to the gut. Conditions like these can be supported through nutrition: Crohn’s, celiac, UC, SIBO, candida, GERD, lactose intolerance, diverticulitis, leaky gut (dysbiois), inflammation, mental health, skin health, worms, reflux, gastro, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s.
Even Covid/Omicron symptoms such as gastro, fatigue and recovery can be greatly assisted by your gut health. This virus can be very debilitating and draining. Your gut and what you put into it is key to your recovery (also consulting your healthcare professional, of course).
Lee Holmes, Clinical Nutritionist
As Lee says, “A healthy, toned gut is the key to treating and alleviating many health conditions whether they reside in the gut or elsewhere.
As a clinical nutritionist, I’m dedicated to helping my clients with food and nutrition-based solutions. What you eat and drink really are the keys to health and wellbeing.
And it’s just common sense (but also backed by reams of scientific study) that your gut is the organ to ensure the nutrients and liquids are processed and dispersed to our vital organs and onwards to all parts of our body”.
By treating your gut with love and concern it will repay you a hundredfold with improvements to your health condition or goal and general wellbeing.
