What is Doctor's Best Hyaluronic Acid with Chondroitin Sulfate?
BioCell Collagen® is a science based, clinically tested dietary ingredient that promotes youthful looking skin, and healthy connective tissues. The active ingredient, BioCell Collagen®, helps maintain joint function.
Hyaluronic Acid is a type of building block called a glycosaminoglycan, and it plays an important role in supporting the health of connective tissue.
Chondroitin sulfate is a chemical in cartilage around joints in the body. Doctor’s Best uses chondroitin sulfate with a purity of 90 percent or greater.
Type II collagen is the collagen that makes up moveable joints. Studies have shown that hydrolyzed collagen provides a substantial advantage in bioavailability over non-hydrolyzed collagen, thereby having the potential to enhance healthy joint structure more efficiently.
How does it work?
Components of BioCell Collagen® (hyaluroinic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and collagen type II) can enhance the normal production of proteoglycans in the joint matrix, thereby enhancing healthy joint structure and helping to maintain joint function.
Hyaluronic Acid is a type of building block called a glycosaminoglycan, and it plays an important role in supporting the health of connective tissue. Healthy connective tissue and cartilage maintenance is fundamental in normal skin and joint function. Hyaluronic Acid is highly concentrated in synovial fluid, where it serves to enhance joint lubrication and the elastic structural and functional characteristics of the joint.
Chondroitin sulfate and the other glycosaminoglycans strongly attract water due to the negative charges of their sulfate groups. These negative charges also repel each other, creating spaces between glycosaminoglycan side chains where water can enter. This combination of solid and liquid gives cartilage a compressible quality that allows it to function in healthy joints.
Why should I take Doctor's Best Hyaluronic Acid with Chondroitin Sulfate?
As a part of normal physiology, the tensile properties of articular cartilage begin to decline after about age 30. Researchers agree the major visible signs of aging in the skin, joints and eyes are a result of progressive collagen and hyaluronic acid degradation in our tissues. To help, Doctor’s Best uses BioCell Collagen® is a science based, clinically tested dietary ingredient that promotes youthful looking skin, and healthy joints.
FAQ's
What are the ingredients derived from the Doctor's Best Hyaluronic Acid with Chondroitin Sulfate product?
Doctor's Best Hyaluronic Acid with Chondroitin Sulfate features BioCell Collagen® that is standardized to 20% Chondroitin Sulfate and 10% Hyaluronic Acid, in addition to approximately 60% Collagen Type II. BioCell Collagen® is sourced from the sternal cartilage of chickens that are raised without hormones or steroids present in the poultry feed.
Is Chondroitin sodium-free?
No, it does contain a small amount of sodium. Sodium must be added during processing.
What is the difference between collagen types I, II, and III? Can I take all three at once?
Type I is the most abundant collagen in the body and is in high concentrations in blood vessels, tendons, skin and muscle tissue.
Type III is used by the body for quick repairs and is often a precursor to type I.
Type II is the major component of hyaline cartilage in joint tissue.
Taking all together would likely yield an increase in the building blocks that are needed by the body to support connective tissue in many different areas.
Is it OK to take Collagen Type 2 with Collagen Types 1 and 3, or do they compete with each other for absorption?
They do not compete. To some extent, both would be digested in the GI tract and provide building blocks to the body for connective tissue support.
